Difficulty: Easy, smooth and flat.
Location: It emanates from the Haines St. Park and Ride by Safeway and McDonalds across from the Port. The trail begins at the heavy haulout off of Boat St.
Description: This wonderful trail follows along the old RR right of way starting at the Port of Port Townsend. Park your car (if you still drive those archaic things) at the Haines St. Park and Ride, work your way through the Port across Highway 20 to Boat St. to the trailhead. The trail goes towards the mill along the bluffs and shoreline.
The trail now officially goes past the paved Mill Road (approx 3.0 miles) to the underpass at Highway 20 where you can get onto the highway safely and skip the bridge crossing. The goal is to extend it to the 4 Corners area. It has a hardpack walking, road bike and wheelchair surface.
Larry Scott was one of the original Church of the Rear Derailleur High Priests and helped start the Peninsula Trails Coalition, whose 1st goal was to develop a trail from P.T. to P.A. along the old RR right-of-way. The trail is named in his honor.
Distance: approx 3.0 miles
